Job overview

Wellington School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, engaging and motivated English as an Additional Language (EAL) Assistant from September 2024. Working with small groups of pupils aged 11-18, the position requires a candidate with a recognised TEFL qualification such as Cert TESOL or CELTA.

The successful applicant will be predominantly supporting our International Boarding pupils. Wellington School has a vibrant and diverse boarding community and we welcome pupils from around the world. There are over 30 nationalities represented across our five boarding houses and we celebrate the rich diversity our boarders bring to the School. Our co-educational and multi-cultural ethos gives our pupils the opportunity to gain a greater respect and understanding for people of any gender, race, faith or nationality.

Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 900 pupils on the school roll. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The Senior School teaches pupils between the ages of 11-18. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 3 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 35 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.
