The Role

Harwich & Dovercourt High School is seeking a dynamic, motivated Early Career Teacher to join the school from July 2025.


We also have ECT vacancies for Teacher of English at the following schools:

  • Philip Morant School and College
  • The Stanway School
  • St Helena School

As a Teacher, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Teach your subject with enthusiasm
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons
  • Assess and provide feedback
  • Provide care, guidance and support to our young people

Early Career Payments:

Over the last few years eligible teachers of Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Languages have been able to apply for an Early Careers Payment. Eligibility is based on when you start your initial teacher training course and your qualifications. Alongside this the government also has the Targeted Retention Incentive scheme. You may wish to consider this as part of your application process. Although, please note these payments have not been confirmed for next year, therefore we can’t guarantee these payments will be available 2025/26. Please note if you are eligible for both the targeted retention incentive and early-career payments, you can only claim one of these additional payments in the same academic year.

Harwich and Dovercourt High School (HDHS) is a popular, mixed 11-18 comprehensive situated on the north-east Essex coast.
