Working hours: 34 hours per week - Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 16.00

Essential Requirements

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher + Bachelor of Education or QTS or PGCE.

• Teaching Experience: Minimum 2 years as a class teacher.

• Creativity: Innovative approaches to lesson planning and problem-solving in the classroom.

• Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.

• Classroom Management Skills: Techniques for maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.

• Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the primary curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.

• Assessment Skills: Proficiency in using various assessment methods to evaluate student progress and inform

instruction.

• Adaptability: The ability to adjust teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.

• Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community. Capable of correct professional etiquette and courtesy with students, staff, and parents. Flexibility and proactivity to participate constructively in school activities.

• Technological Proficiency: Comfort with using educational technology to enhance learning experiences.

• Lifelong Learning Attitude: A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with educational best practices.

• Effective Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and engage with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Empathy and Understanding: The capacity to understand and support students' social, emotional, and academic

needs.

• References: Appropriate references from current and previous employer, corroborated by follow up to each referee.

• Acceptance to undergo criminal checks and child protection screening.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

• Ensure that children feel safe and protected, in school and out in the community.

• Follow the guidance laid out in CSM’s code of conduct, child safeguarding policy and related policies.

• Carefully observe children and actively participate during break duties.

• Maintain confidentiality within School.

• Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety concerns are reported accurately and in a timely manner.

• Support the classroom/school ethos and encourage good standards of behavior.

• Escort children within and outside the premises (e.g., between classrooms, on educational visits, swimming lessons, sports events).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive excellent teaching and learning by adopting a focused approach to holistic teaching which is tailored to young children's developmental needs.

• Integrate play into the curriculum, fostering creativity, exploration, and social skills. Use structured and unstructured play to support learning objectives.

• Engage and Interact as a school ambassador to the community through building positive relationships with peers, students, and families, involving families and the community in the educational process to create a supportive network for students.

• Ensuring that activities are suitable for the children’s age and developmental stage. Promoting engagement and effective learning.

• Building trusting relationships with children. Forming positive connections which enhance our student’s emotional security and willingness to engage in learning.

• Regularly observe and assess children’s progress through informal and formal observation methods and planning in the moment to tailor instruction to individual needs.

• Create a rich learning environment with diverse materials that encourages exploration and inquiry with free flow between indoor and outdoor learning environments.

• Encourage strong partnerships with families, regularly communicating and involving families and parents in school activities to help reinforce learning at home.

• Priorities language development through storytelling, songs, and conversations, incorporate a variety of texts and literacy-rich activities.

• Incorporate activities that promote social skills, emotional awareness, and conflict resolution, laying the groundwork for positive interactions.

• Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with

• Acknowledge and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of children, incorporating multicultural opportunities and perspectives into the curriculum.

• Foster self-help skills and independence by allowing children to make choices and take on responsibilities appropriate to their age.

• Attend staff meetings, Parent/Teacher meetings, planning and preparation days as scheduled.

• Responsible for the supervision of the work of teaching assistants and supply teachers

• Undertake other duties appropriate to the post that may reasonably be required from time to time.

• Be responsible for teaching materials and classroom equipment and participate in the review and on the allocation of these resources within the school.

• Ensure that classroom and hallway displays are well presented and maintained, in content and aesthetics.

• Maintain accurate data records in the school systems.

• Prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner based upon monitoring procedures adhered to within the school.

• Facilitate parental engagement by ensuring home tasks are presented comprehensively and detail how parents can assist their children.

• Work with curriculum leaders to ensure that there is continuity across grade group and phase.
