Job overview
We require an Early Years/EYFS/ head for August 2025.
· To oversee the day-to-day running of the Early Years programme.
· To arrange the support programmes, non-contact time, supervision duties and allocation of staff to these responsibilities.
· To assist in the assessment of children applying to the Early Years classes and make recommendations for their readiness to be accepted and the appropriate level of their placement.
· To make recommendations for the promotion or retention of children.
· To liaise with the Year 1 teachers and Key Stage 1 coordinator to ensure a smooth transition of students from Reception to Year 1.
· To coordinate the development of the Early Years curriculum and ensure that full documentation of the curriculum is produced.
· To oversee all health, safety and maintenance issues in the Early Years area and report any necessary repairs and changes to the Head of Primary and Head of Maintenance.
· To coordinate the preparation of budgets and orders for Early Years.
· To oversee the safe storage of stationery, books and equipment and ensure that all such resources are used fairly and equally by the Early Years staff.
· To arrange a schedule of regular meetings with Early Years staff.
· To oversee the process of reporting to parents, both through written reports and parent meetings.
· To assist new staff through a process of orientation in the Early Years programmes.
· To attend regular Key Stage Coordinator meetings, Curriculum Coordinator meetings and Academic Committee meetings.
· To work with specialist subject teacher who provide classes for Early Years, to ensure that the overall curriculum meets the need of young learners.
· To oversee the keeping of students’ records and ensure that they are passed on complete to the next class.
