At Rainbow International School Uganda (RISU) we are looking for an experienced Early Years Teacher (with Lead responsibilities). The role is to teach in Early Years and with the extra responsibility to oversee all aspects of the Early Years phase. About us
RISU’s Early Years is housed in a bespoke and newly refurbished classroom and outdoor learning area, offering play-based learning for children from 18 months to 5 years old. We have an experienced team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Learning Assistants. Class sizes are small, with an average of 13 children per class.
RISU has an experienced Senior Leadership Team with UK and international leadership experience. We are passionate about following best practice in Early Years. We work closely with our supportive community to provide an outstanding, holistic experience.
About the role
As a member of the RISU’s Middle Leadership Team, the post holder will participate in the leadership and management of RISU’s Early Years and Primary School and will be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning across the phase they lead, as well as overseeing the effective management of resources within Early Years. The position holder will oversee the Early Years team, and contribute to the RISU brand. A significant portion of the role will include coaching and mentoring staff within the phase, to ensure that teaching and learning continually improves - leadership time will be allocated for this. We are looking to appoint on a rolling 2-year contract.
What we're looking for:
We are looking for an outstanding Teacher with knowledge and experience of Early Years, who may already have some leadership experience within their setting. We would also consider someone ready to take the next step in their career. We are looking for someone who is equally happy dressing as a Minion as they are leading a training session for parents on safeguarding. You will be highly driven and motivated, have an eye for detail, work flexibly and creatively and, above all, pass your love of learning on to our children.
Candidates should have a good working knowledge of Google Apps and the confidence to work with IT.
Experience in an International school is an added advantage.
Qualifications:
- B.Ed. / PGCE / QTS in Early Years Education or Educated to degree level together with a PGDE/PGCE in Early Years Education
Experience:
- Be a qualified Early Years Teacher and have a thorough knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Should have a minimum of three years teaching experience, after acquiring a teaching degree/PGCE/PGDE/QTS, in the UK or overseas in a British curriculum school
- Be willing to take on opportunities to teach some lessons in other sections of the school should the opportunity arise
- Experience of working in an International school
- Have an advanced ability to use ICT to support and enhance learning in the classroom/your lessons
- Be able to engage, motivate and support children, colleagues and parents
- A working knowledge of Google Apps
- Experience of being fully involved in different after school extra-curricular activities
- Should be professional both in conduct and appearance and fully committed to the life of the school (including school events onsite and offsite)
