Job overview

Do you love working in Nurseries, but want the longer holidays and flexibility of working in a school? You might just have found the perfect position…

With 16 weeks off a year, a high hourly rate, free breakfast and lunch provided by our catering team, daily planning time away from the children, weekly staff training time as well as paid breaks, we know how to take care of our staff.

Norfolk House is seeking to appoint an EYFS Practitioner to join our nursery team. Norfolk House School is a leading, co-educational, preparatory school and nursery in Muswell Hill, North London, for children aged 2-11. The school takes great pride in our happy and warm environment, where each and every pupil is valued and nurtured. With small class sizes and a well-resourced school, you will join a supportive, forward-thinking team committed and passionate about educating children.

You will be a Level-3-qualified practitioner and act as a key person in our Nursery (comprising 3/4 year-olds) or Pre-Nursery (comprising 2/3 year-olds), leading the education and care for a small group of children. You will work as part of a vibrant, happy team and, on a daily basis, will plan and lead engaging activities designed to support children’s development as well as nurture children’s independence and confidence.

You will have daily non-contact time to develop the learning environment, plan activities, and talk with colleagues to ensure you are able to teach the children with everything in place. We also offer staff the opportunity to study for higher-level qualifications which the school would fund.

Our children are our most powerful advertisement - they are polite, well-mannered, and are excited and engaged learners. We have imaginative, creative, and enthusiastic children and as a practitioner, you will be integral in helping to make our Nursery an inspiring setting to learn in.

At Norfolk House School we offer:

  • A nurturing and all-round nursery and school, unique in its context;
  • Motivated, well-rounded and excited children, eager to learn;
  • Excellent professional development opportunities within the school, through Bellevue Education and the Independent Schools Association
  • A team of motivated, committed and talented staff

We are seeking an EYFS practitioner (key person) who will:

Hold a Level 3 Early Years childcare qualification 'full and relevant’ as recognised by the DFE

  • Be committed to supporting children
  • Enjoy working in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Have previous experience working in a nursery or school
  • Be flexible, well organised and able to adapt to changing needs
  • Have excellent verbal and written English
  • Hold a commitment to safeguarding and equalities

We offer staff the opportunity to join the school’s attractive pension scheme

Norfolk House School is a leading London Preparatory School for boys and girls aged 4 -11.
The school takes great pride in its happy and warm environment, where each and every pupil is valued and supported. Pupils at Norfolk House are nurtured and guided through school life; we aim to stimulate and inspire our children and to develop their interests.
We ensure our curriculum is interesting and stimulating as well as broad and balanced. We want our pupils to be excited about lessons and fully engaged in all of school life. We strive to offer personalisation to our learning programmes; our pupils are involved in their own learning and our older children conference regularly with their teachers to set realistic learning targets. Self and peer evaluation of work are both well embedded in our curriculum and our pupils are always aware of what they need to do to achieve next steps, and are well supported in this.
