Job overview

Attendance at school is vital to ensure that students make the very best progress and achieve their full potential. The EWO will work alongside key school staff to reduce levels of absence and work with students and families to promote high levels of attendance. Children missing education are at significant risk of underachieving, being victims of harm, exploitation or radicalisation and becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training) later in life. By working with students of families to encourage good attendance to school, the EWO will have a substantial impact on students’ life chances.

If you would like to develop your career in a forward thinking and highly supportive environment, can foster effective and harmonious relationships with members of staff and truly believe, like we do, that every child can achieve their full potential, then we look forward to receiving your application. This is an important role in the school, which can really help make a difference to a young person’s future life and well-being.

We are seeking an outstanding applicant with integrity, imagination and drive to join us in September to provide operational and administrative support to promote whole school attendance strategies.

This includes:

Daily input of attendance data including any first day absence calls, and investigating any missing data, and maintaining accurate attendance records, including unexplained lesson absences.

Ensure the electronic registration system is updated daily investigating any missing data with class teachers.

To record student absences and late arrivals on school systems, maintaining accurate attendance records.

To support parents/carers to improve their children’s attendance by making initial enquiries with parents/carers regarding unexplained absences/lateness - including first day calling.

● Promote good attendance within the school.

● To process and action student holiday requests.

● To issue routine correspondence to parents/carers regarding attendance/absence requests in accordance with the school procedure.

The successful person will be highly efficient in systems management, confidence in the use of data and favour Serenity School methodologies to ensure all pupils succeed. Our students are at the centre of everything we aim to achieve, consequently our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic; resilient; a multi-talented professional who’s committed to education and able to remain calm in challenging situations; passionate about working with young people and committed to making a difference to improving the life chances of our students. We expect a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.

In return, we will help you innovate and continue your professional development.

We offer a competitive salary that is among the best in our sector, pension scheme, full independent school holidays and membership of an occupational health scheme.

Please apply as soon as possible. We may close this post early if we receive sufficient applications.

Serenity Education is committed to the safeguarding of children and expects applicants to share this commitment.
