We are looking for an Educational Psychologist to join the Ted Wragg Trust Inclusion Team and work within the secondary schools within our Trust. The exceptional candidate will offer a variety of mental health interventions to children and young people in our schools, including counselling and support for our children, many of whom are vulnerable and have SEND.

This role is as a result of increasing capacity in response to rising demand, to support student wellbeing and to add additional support to our multi-disciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, selfless and collaborative Educational Psychologist who is committed to inclusion, working with others, and using psychology to improve experiences and outcomes for children, young people and their families.

We are looking to appoint an Educational Psychologist who:

  • is passionate about what applied psychology can achieve
  • enjoys working with children, young people, their families and schools
  • is able to build good relationships and work well with others
  • is proactive, dynamic and flexible with great communication skills, both oral and written
  • is committed to early identification, overcoming barriers, promoting inclusion and improving the lives and wellbeing of all children, young people and their families

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Completed professional training course as an educational psychologist recognised by the British Psychological Society 
  • Experience working with children / young people and their families and working in partnership with schools, other agencies and voluntary services 
  • An understanding of the skills needed to provide emotional and therapeutic support to young children in schools 
  • Previous experience of using a range of assessment techniques with children and young people 
  • A track record of delivering exceptional performance and quality working within high performing teams   
  • An understanding of the Code of Practice and SEND legislation as it applies to the work of educational psychologists 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate and influence others through both verbal and written media and the ability to build effective partnerships 
  • Currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist

This role will be based at St Luke’s Church of England School, Exeter.
