Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a committed individual to assist with activities taking place in the mechanical engineering workshop and support the learning processes in the engineering programmes. The successful applicant will actively support students and colleagues by providing technical assistance in the Engineering area and will be required to maintain a clean and safe working environment and ensure that the technical tasks required by the programme area are completed on time.

The role will also involve carrying out day-to-day maintenance and cleaning of materials and equipment, as well as basic fault finding and repairs, maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop, manage inventory, ensure safety compliance, and support student learning.

Applicants should have excellent inter-personal skills in dealing with students, staff and members of the public and some industrial experience. A particular interest and ability in practical work and a willingness to take responsibility for health and safety issues are also essential.
