Job description

Pinc College is seeking to appoint an English Teacher based at our Birmingham campus and a Maths Teacher based at our Middleport and/or Macclesfield campuses.

English Teacher position is for 1 day.

Maths Teacher position for can be for 1 day at one of the campuses or 2 days over the 2 campuses.

Job Type: Permanent

1 day per week minimum 09.00h-15.00h (teaching time is 10.00h to 14.00h)

Actual Salary for 1 day : £5,733.00 per year.

You will work 38 weeks (term time) but will be salaried for 39 weeks to take into account planning.

To commence as soon as possible.

As a teacher within our Team, you will engage with the following expectations:

  • Promote Inclusion and participation.
  • Ensure all students SEND needs are met and supported.
  • Work towards positive EHCP and academic outcomes.
  • Prepare teaching area prior to sessions with resources.
  • Order resources, providing at least 2-weeks notice for specialist materials.
  • Ensure Sessions Goals are completed in sessions and reflected upon. All students have their goals reviewed within the first hour of each session.
  • Utilise resources to support learning such as task breakdown.
  • Work in the spirit of collaboration with the network of Pinc team members.
  • Seek and co-create partnership opportunities for learners, utilising the Creative and Social capital of the area - linking projects with the Museum/Gallery and community.
  • Inspire and engage through to creative learning strategies; encourage investigation, enquiry and skills development by preparing learner focused activities.
  • Create and review ILP progress, termly using our system, reflecting on needs and with knowledge of individual EHCPs.
  • Raise issues with access to any of our systems with your Campus Lead
  • Teach skills and knowledge that challenge students. Guide students through GCSE, Functional Skills and post 16 coursework.
  • Ensure awareness of the SOL and that specifications for the courses your students study, are up to date and seek training where needed.
  • Ensure students are entered for their exams.
  • Work collaboratively with the SEND team should you feel the need for interventions to support student progress.
  • Follow the Pinc Teaching and Learning Cycle.
  • Contribute to half termly reports.
  • Prepare lessons and resources in a manner that can be shared/picked up during potential absence.
  • Report to T&L Lead in terms of Teaching and Learning/Schemes of Learning.
  • Assess progress and ensure assessment results are stored on our system.
  • Take part in termly moderation/assessment of overall progress / planning with at least one other teacher.
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Plan and deliver taster sessions.
  • Use equipment and facilities, such as the whole space of the Art Gallery/Museum, cameras and computers to stimulate interest in learning.
  • Link with termly art / digital art projects and end of term student exhibitions.
  • Direct support staff in who and how they support student progress.
  • Record and share safeguarding concerns or general incidents on Pinc systems. Flag with Campus Lead the same day.
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Respond to desired outcomes from annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, regarding learners with SEND, which may involve reviewing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
  • Be aware of each student’s work experience in order to support, replicate and build on any learning.
  • Attend in-service training.
  • Attend collaborative planning sessions.
  • Attend termly meeting with T&L Lead.
  • Work with wider team, Speech and Communications Specialist and SENCO to support progress.

All other requirements in order to support your students EHCP outcomes and PINC College Procedures.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Teaching Qualification.
  • Experience of teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills English and/or Maths.

You will be part of a team who educate, safeguard and support neurodiverse students, (16 – 25 year olds).
