The International School of Siena is seeking to appoint an English Language Acquisition Teacher to teach within the school's IB Middle Years Programme (secondary school) on a full-time contract from September 2023. For an appropriately experienced candidate, there may also be the possibility to be appointed to the role of curriculum coordinator (Head of Department).

Candidates should be well-qualified, committed to high standards, interested in using innovative approaches to teaching and learning and enthusiastic about promoting international understanding. THE POSITION

We have an opening for an English Language Acquisition Teacher to teach within the school's IB Middle Years Programme (secondary school) on a full-time contract from September 2023. We are looking for teachers who show a high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity, organisational skills and, above all, a commitment to learning through inquiry. The role will involve the teaching of MYP ELA and, for an appropriately experienced candidate, there may also be the possibility to be appointed to the role of curriculum coordinator (Head of Department).

We expect our new colleague to be a great collaborator who can truly inspire students, ensuring high standards and an excellent profile for the programmes they teach both within and beyond our school community.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS

• to be in possession of a university degree and an appropriate teaching qualification;

• to have had recent experience teaching English Language Acquisition courses to students aged between 11 and 16;

• to be fluent in English;

• to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Italy.

PREFEERED CHARACTERISTICS

• to have experience in teaching the IB DP and/or MYP.

Relocation assistance and help with the apartment search and settling-in process will be provided from a specialist agency should the successful candidate be relocating from abroad. Other employment benefits include professional development funding, use of a school laptop and free school lunches.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Our standard salary range is 27,000 to 31,000 euro gross per year, and there may be tax benefits for those relocating to Italy for the first time.
