DBIS seeks an enthusiastic and qualified Secondary School English teacher to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will be passionate about fostering students' deep understanding of English Language and Literature, inspiring a love of reading and writing, and developing their critical-thinking skills.
Our English department takes a dynamic and integrated approach to teaching by combining English Language and Literature with Drama. Therefore, an understanding of the interconnectedness between these subjects is highly desirable.
To be considered, it is essential to have:
- A bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in English or a closely related field;
- A relevant postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS);
- Experience teaching English Language and Literature to a high quality at Secondary School level within the English National Curriculum framework;
- Experience teaching Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE and A Level English (applications from IB English teachers will also be accepted).
It is desirable to have:
- A master’s or postgraduate qualification in a related subject;
- Experience in teaching Drama in Secondary School (non-exam groups);
- Experience working with EAL students (English as an Additional Language);
- Experience or interest in being an examiner for (I)GCSE and/or A Level.
All new teachers are offered two-year renewable contracts and a competitive compensation package, with a gratuity of 18.75%, an additional monthly cash allowance, remuneration of school fees for one child and full medical and dental insurance for the employee.
