We are looking for a highly experienced, dynamic and inspirational Executive Headteacher to join and lead our warm, vibrant, ambitious school. As an Academy within the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education Multi-Academy Trust since April 2022, this is an exciting time to join our school following the confirmation of a full school rebuild and plans for growth of our Trust in the surrounding areas over the years ahead. Whilst there are challenges in the sector, our Multi-Academy Trust is continuing to grow and the Executive Headteacher would help ensure we have capacity within the area to support new and/or vulnerable schools that may wish to join the Trust in the future.
Our inclusive, Christian ethos underpins a caring, safe environment where values such as self-esteem and mutual respect allow all children and staff to feel confident, happy and valued. We see all our children as unique individuals and really celebrate their diversity.
The Minster Junior School is a large Junior School with approximately 440 pupils on roll. As a Church of England school, we value all God’s children and welcome children of all faiths to our family. The school enjoys close links with Croydon Minster Church and the Vicar regularly leads collective worship. Our school is set in spacious grounds and is very well equipped with excellent resources. We have a very skilled and caring group of teachers and support staff who bring out the best in all our children.
As a school within the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education, The Minster Junior School is part of the wider family of schools which serve the needs of young people and families in the communities across our diverse and vibrant Diocese. The SDBE team are dedicated to providing excellent training, professional advice, resources, guidance and pastoral support for our schools and school leaders.
You will:
- Believe in the mission and ethos of our School and of our Multi-Academy Trust;
- Be a strategic leader with a proven track record of leading schools and school improvement, including advancing the quality of teaching and learning;
- Be passionate and relentless in improving educational standards, providing high quality leadership, management and inspiration, driving forward change to shape the future direction of the School;
- Be able to develop effective partnerships with staff, governors, parents, the parish, the local authority and the wider community;
- Be able and ready to work in collaboration with other schools within the Multi-Academy Trust.
We can offer you:
- Amazing, well-behaved children with positive attitudes to learning and pride in their school;
- Hardworking, caring, dedicated and friendly staff and active parents;
- Governors and Trustees committed to support and improvement;
- A nurturing working environment with a focus on wellbeing;

About The Minster Junior School
Welcome to The Minster Junior School, which has been serving the local community and providing high quality education for over 65 years. In April 2022 we became an academy, joining Southwark Diocese Board of Education Multi-Academy Trust (MAT).
We have a very skilled and caring group of teachers who bring out the best in all our children. From our Artist in Residence to our specialist music and sports coaches, we nurture the whole child, not just fulfilling their academic potential but their personal and creative development too. Being at the heart of the community, we ensure we work very closely in partnership with parents, carers and governors, where we live by our vision statement,
‘Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another, to show love and do good’ Hebrews 10:24 GNTIf your child is transferring from The Minster Nursery and Infant School or if you are moving from elsewhere, we will do all we can to make the settling in process as easy as possible. We value your input, as your child’s first teachers, and your belief in us that we have the best interests of your child at heart. We have an open door policy so come in and talk to us!
