Experienced Librarian

Experienced Librarian with British Curriculum Experience.

Our growing secondary school in Abuja, Nigeria is currently seeking highly experienced and motivated to manage the school library, providing a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters a love of reading, learning, and exploration, and supports the curriculum and educational goals of the school.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the library collection, including selection, acquisition, and maintenance of books and resources
• Develop and implement library policies and procedures
• Promote reading and literacy through book talks, author visits, and reading programs
• Support teaching and learning by providing resources and expertise
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and deliver library-based lessons and projects
• Maintain a welcoming and inclusive library environment
• Manage library staff and volunteers
• Develop and manage the library budget
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends in librarianship

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Science (desirable)
• Experience working in a school library or similar environment
• Knowledge of curriculum and educational goals
• Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills
• Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing circumstances
