RAK Academy is seeking a dynamic and committed Facilities Manager to join us for the Academic Year 2022-2023. This is an exciting role which will be directly reporting to the Head of Operations.

Job Purpose:
RAK Academy places a strong focus on ensuring a welcoming, safe and healthy environment for its students, staff, parents and professionals to ensure the strategic aims of its schools are fully realized.
The Facilties Manager is responsible for executing health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures at RAK Academy. Facilities Manager are responsible for the development, performance, and delivery all of the facilities to the school to produce smooth and efficient service and delivery solution, maximising performance & profitability against pre-agreed targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. To undertake a range of duties with regards to the grounds, buildings, environment and their users, ensuring the safety and security of staff and students through day-to-day organisation and supervision of the premises ensuring essential works and maintenance jobs are completed on a priority basis for all RAKA Schools.
2. To be responsible for Health and Safety issues across the site and ensure Health and Safety rules and regulations are implemented and adhered to in coordination with the line manager at all RAKA Schools.
3. To maintain the premises and manage deliveries and on-site cleaning contracts.
4. Oversee site security, CCTV and fire alarm and panel systems in accordance with the line manager guidelines.
5. Liaise with the building contractors of the school site and grounds regarding security, health and safety and access plans for buildings in use.
6. Ensure the day-to-day upkeep of the school is maintained throughout the building.
7. Ensure that the relevant school buildings in use are open, available for use when required, particularly for day-to-day school operations, community lettings and school events
8. Ensure that arrangements for securing the premises and contents are in place
9. Ensure that the School Head of Operations is kept fully informed and advised about all aspects of site security, cleanliness, and maintenance.
10. To monitor the quality of the cleaning and report back to the Head of Operations on a weekly basis.
11. Alongside the security team be a first-tier key holder for the school and as such respond to unforeseen events and attend emergency callouts, taking responsibility for the installed alarm system.
12. Ensure that utilities costs are minimised through efficient use of school power and ventilation systems, whilst ensuring that all operating requirements are maintained, including room temperatures in line with the contractors.
13. To know the elements of a comprehensive fire evacuation and disaster recovery plan and operate the elements linked to the site and facilities management of the school.
14. Order and maintain the stock of cleaning and maintenance consumables and equipment required by the team and cleaning staff (if not provided as part of cleaning contract)
15. Ensure the day to day repair and maintenance and other requirements are maintained via approved petty cash which will be replenished on monthly basis.
16. Ensure that appropriate action is taken to ensure that safe access is possible for both vehicles and pedestrians in the case of poor weather e.g. rain or fog
17. Ensure that all furniture arrangements and equipment requests are in place and on time for any facilities capex in coordination with line manager.
18. Ensure essential maintenance duties daily, such as minor repairs to property, fixtures, fittings and equipment including the replacement of light bulbs, ceiling tiles etc. To plan and carry out, under your instruction minor decoration works and carpentry duties as required
19. Ensure A/C, Chillers and lighting systems are working properly. Regulate cooling and ventilation as necessary
20. Arrange/escort contractors visiting the school’s premises, such as service engineers and plumbers to attend breakdowns, general maintenance etc and ensure they are aware of any potential hazards connected with their presence on the premises, always having regard for Health and Safety.
21. Maintain a corrective action register for FM, setup by the line manager and ensure to prioritize tasks and complete this in a timely manner.
22. Ensure the undertaking of outside supervision duties as required, daily sweeping of outside areas, emptying of bins, general tidying, removal of rubbish and clearance of drains and gullies
23. Ensure areas are always free of litter.
24. Maintain garden areas, trees and shrubs keeping pathways and paved areas clear through the contracted company.
25. To undertake regular checks (non-electrical) of tools and equipment to ensure in good working order.
26. Assist and supervise in the unloading of deliveries, ensuring items are promptly and securely delivered to the correct location.
27. Prepare and maintain updated policy documents related to facilities and health and safety.
28. Responsible for the security of the premises and contents, including the operation of the Fire Alarm and Intruder Alarm and undertaking key holder responsibilities involving locking/unlocking entrances, checking and securing windows and internal doors, activating and switching off alarm systems etc.
29. Reporting any faults or failures to the security systems.
30. Ensure that regular building tours are undertaken throughout the day and where lighting, cooling and ventilation systems are not in use to turn them off.
The candidate must have:
· Bachelors Degree
· NEBOSH certification
· 5 years’ experience with a Health, Safety, Security, Environment background in an educational sector.
