Job Summary

Are you passionate about developing students' academic, social, and emotional growth? Do you have the vision and expertise to lead a character development curriculum that prepares students to flourish as socially responsible citizens? At Kingsway Park High School, we are looking for a dedicated Faculty Lead – Character Development to contribute to the development and strategic leadership of our school, promoting a culture of educational excellence within a nurturing, safe, and secure environment.

This unique role will allow you to lead the development of the character curriculum, with a particular focus on PSHE, Food Technology, and other aligned subjects. You will play a pivotal role in preparing students for the challenges of life while ensuring high academic outcomes. Our school's core values—trust, integrity, professionalism, respect, kindness, and effective communication—extend beyond the school into the wider community, and this role is critical in embedding those values across our curriculum and culture.

Primary Purpose

At Kingsway Park High School, we are committed to caring for and developing the whole child, improving aspirations, and ensuring every student achieves their full potential. In addition to academic excellence, we prepare our students to be socially responsible citizens who can thrive in society and give back to their local communities.

As Faculty Lead for Character Development, you will oversee a multi-disciplinary curriculum designed to foster resilience, confidence, and leadership among students. You will be responsible for leading subjects such as PSHE, Food Technology, and other areas of personal and social development. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate passionate about character education and equipped with the leadership skills to inspire staff and students alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and strategically plan the character development curriculum, ensuring alignment with the school’s values and ethos of ‘We Cooperate, We Pioneer, We Belong.’
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum across PSHE, Food, and other related subjects.
  • Build, lead, and develop a faculty team, including middle leaders, fostering a collaborative and aspirational environment.
  • Maximise student outcomes in both academic and personal development areas across KS3 and KS4.
  • Evaluate and improve teaching and learning strategies, ensuring consistency and high expectations across all subjects within the faculty.
  • Oversee the planning, sequencing, and execution of medium- and long-term plans, ensuring that subject intents are clearly articulated and delivered.
  • Lead on extra-curricular activities, including whole-school assemblies, drop-down days, and character-building projects.
  • Monitor and track student progress, using data to inform teaching, learning, and personal development strategies.
  • Support and guide staff in professional development, ensuring all members of the faculty are continuously improving.
  • Promote positive student behaviour and maintain strong partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an ambitious and visionary leader who is passionate about character development and personal growth for students. You should have:

  • A strong background in leading personal development or character education, ideally with experience in Food Technology, PSHE, or related subjects.
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably as a middle leader, with a track record of improving student outcomes.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate staff, students, and the wider school community.
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations, equality, and inclusion, ensuring that all students are prepared for life beyond school.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and supportive leadership team that is committed to school improvement.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression, with support for aspiring Assistant Headteachers.
  • The chance to make a real impact in developing the whole child within our school community and beyond.
