Job overview
Archbishop Ilsley are looking to recruit three new Faculty Support colleagues to join three of our high performing faculties to help our teachers deliver a high quality of education to our pupils so that they can use their God given talent to succeed academically:
· Member of the Science and Maths Faculty
· Member of the English and Languages Faculty
· Member of the Humanities Faculty
The role would suit someone who is either working in a school and would like a pupil facing role or someone who is thinking about becoming a teacher. The successful candidate may have recently left university; on the other hand, it may suit someone who is more experienced but is looking for a change of environment or sector. Whether you would prefer full time or part time can be discussed at interview.
We are looking for someone to cover lessons and to provide support to a faculty within Archbishop Ilsley. The successful candidate would be expected to support and uphold the Catholic ethos of our school.
Archbishop Ilsley is a large, oversubscribed Catholic Secondary School in Acocks Green, on the border of Hall Green and Yardley, that caters for pupils between the ages of 11 and 18. There are 210 pupils in each year and the Sixth Form is predicted to grow considerably over the next five years. OFSTED rated the school ‘good’ in the last graded inspection. Our GCSE results are strong; the percentage of pupils achieving a good pass in Maths and English has increased by 10% in two years.
This position is only available for candidates who have the right to work in the UK. We regret we cannot sponsor candidates from abroad or provide a work visa.
Closing date: Monday 13th January at 9:00am

It is an exciting time to join Archbishop Ilsley as we appointed our new Head Teacher on 1st January 2023.
You may be wondering where the school gets its name from. Edward Ilsley was the first Archbishop of Birmingham. He built the village of Acocks Green’s first church and was passionate about educating the children of the area. He died in 1926. The school, bearing his name, was opened in 1957.

Visions and value
In terms of ethos, as a Catholic School, the teaching of Jesus Christ underpins all that we do. In the words of St Matthew, we want all pupils to “let their light shine”. As well as teaching them an engaging and well-sequenced curriculum, we also pride ourselves on developing the whole person. We run an extensive Duke of Edinburgh Programme, which is one of the most popular in Birmingham. Relationships, charity and looking after each other are also promoted at every opportunity. The second branch of our ethos is Jesus’ most important commandment: “love one another as I have loved you.” .
We are fortunate to enjoy very strong links with our neighbouring Church, Sacred Heart and Holy Souls. Canon Jonathan and Father Alex are regular visitors to our school. If you haven’t already, I would encourage you to visit their beautiful Church. You can find mass times and newsletters on their website: https://www.holysoulschurch.co.uk
Our School is a proud member of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company (MAC). We enjoy excellent relationships with all the schools in the MAC. You can find more about the MAC by clicking here: https://saintteresaofcalcutta.org.uk
