Job Title: Finance Officer (Maternity Cover)
Reporting To: Finance Manager
The Finance Officer will report to the Finance Manager who they will support in all aspects of delivering the effective and efficient financial management of Lancing College, its Prep Schools in Hove and Worthing and its trading subsidiary.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- To support the Finance Manager in all aspects of financial management including:
- Budget preparation, monitoring and reporting
- Providing support and advice to budget managers
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- The preparation of the year-end financial accounts and assist with the annual audit
- Assist with the preparation of the termly management accounts including the entering of accruals and pre-payments, variance analysis and reconciliations
- Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
- Support with the completion of all annual and quarterly National Statistics
- To generally support the Finance Team, including the Purchase Ledger and Fee Administration functions
- To deputise for the Finance Manager in their absence
Required Skills, Qualifications and Personal Qualities
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Sound working knowledge of all Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
- Recognised accountancy qualification – part or fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT or equivalent)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Approachable, personable and able to deal with a wide variety of people
Desirable
- Knowledge of using iSAMS and iFinance
- Previous accounting experience in a school environment
- Member of a relevant professional body
