Alfriston School is an outstanding special school with academy status, we are an ambitious and dynamic SEND school providing a specialist education for 163 students between 11 and 19 years of age, who have moderate learning difficulties and may have associated additional needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic Food and Nutrition Teacher (Food Technology subject) who will inspire and motivate young people to learn about food and nutrition. As the subject teacher you will also teach a second subject within the school timetable. As the Food and Nutrition Teacher you will teach students of different ages and abilities and help them understand the connections between what they eat and their health. You will help the students develop their practical skills in choosing and preparing food. This will help them make informed decisions to maintain and improve their physical and mental health. You will play a pivotal part in rolling out the ‘food vision’ of the school development plan, covering sustainability, work related learning, which is a programme offered to students to provide them with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for adult and working life.
The school has excellent facilities which offers a high-end kiosk to students, and will have the use of a new dining room including a café, where you will support the students in work related learning, enabling skills for life.

Alfriston is an outstanding Special School with Academy status for girls aged 11-19 with moderate learning difficulties and speech and language and communication difficulties based in Beaconsfield. We currently have 156 girls on roll, pupils attend from all over Buckinghamshire and some neighbouring counties. We are also a residential school and have provision for 20 pupils to board with us on a weekly basis. All our pupils have an Education Health Care Plan and are taught in small groups and with additional support.
Our staff are specialist subject teachers and are experienced in working with a range of special needs and abilities. We consider the staff team as our most valuable resource. Training and development is a high priority in the school. There is also personal support given to staff to manage the diverse and challenging work needed to support pupils with significant special needs. At present there are 70 staff employed at the school working in the teaching, support, residential and administrative teams. We are proud of the excellent standard of education provided at Alfriston.
