The ideal candidate will be adept at delivering high-quality lessons in Food Technology, engaging students through practical, hands-on learning experiences. Experience delivering BTEC and WJEC qualifications would be advantageous, with a commitment to student-centered, inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in Food Technology and Cookery in alignment with the KS3, KS4, and KS5 curriculum requirements.
  • Qualifications Offered: Prepare students for qualifications including BTEC and WJEC, ensuring they gain the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.
  • SEND Support: Adapt and differentiate teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of students with SEND, using inclusive and accessible approaches.
  • Student Engagement: Inspire and engage students through interactive and practical lessons, fostering a love for culinary arts and healthy cooking practices.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all culinary practices comply with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe learning environment.
  • Continuous Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with curriculum standards, teaching methodologies, and SEND support strategies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with specialism in Food Technology, Cookery, or related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Food Technology/Cookery at KS3 to KS5, with particular expertise in BTEC and WJEC qualifications.
  • SEND Knowledge: Strong background in supporting students with SEND, with experience adapting teaching strategies for diverse learning needs.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom culture.
