Job overview

Taaleem is seeking to hire an exceptional professional to become the Founding Head of Secondary for one of its schools.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for suitably qualified professionals who are innovative, cognitively agile, are committed to continual professional learning, and are passionate about building culture and community.

Successful candidates will become part of the Founding Senior Leadership Team and will be expected to embrace and embody our vision of ‘Enjoy, Aspire, Achieve’, whilst continually supporting the growth and development of our learning community within the school’s world-class facilities.

We are an inclusive school that believes all children can achieve when they are surrounded by caring, dedicated and hard-working professionals. The Founding Head of Secondary should set a clear direction for the secondary school, which ensures all members of the community are continually developing and learning, whilst keeping wellbeing at the heart of everything.

Requirements:

  • Highly qualified in relevant domain of education to the role being applied for.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • At least three years as Head of Secondary or member of the Senior Leadership Team in a similar setting.
  • Secure knowledge of how to safeguard children, leading from the front.
  • A proven record of strategic school development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of monitoring and maintaining the highest standards.
  • A commitment to the wellbeing of the whole community.
  • An understanding of, and dedication to, the broader life of the school.
  • The ability to quickly build teams, develop culture and implement effective processes and systems and processes within a fast-paced, demanding, multicultural, international setting.
  • A passion for educational research and reading; and an understanding of how to take this from concept to results through impactful implementation.

Curriculum

The school will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in the Foundation Stage, before moving into the National Curriculum for England from Year 1 through to GCSE, BTEC and A-Level pathways in the Secondary school. The curriculum is significantly influenced by the local context and culture within a global setting and is enhanced by the purposeful use of technology. Interdisciplinary learning will allow children to deepen their understanding of concepts across the curriculum, with STEAM playing an integral role in this.

Curriculum enrichment is crucial in providing routes for learners to grow. Experiences offered both within and outside of the school setting will allow children to find and follow their passions; the broad and balanced extra-curricular programme will also harness this zeal.

Through the carefully constructed curriculum, learners will become adept at understanding themselves, their learning journey and how to pursue their potential. Gaining a deeper understanding of who they are will allow them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally as they become global citizens and leaders of the future.

The curriculum will be delivered through the highest-quality teaching, with all learners being understood, nurtured, and celebrated. High standards maintained consistently across the school will ensure all children fulfil their potential as well-rounded individuals.

History of Taaleem

The origins of Taaleem began in 2004 when Beacon Education, a school management company was set up to develop and run high quality education projects. Beacon Education was created to meet the need for top-quality schools as the region’s population continues to grow.

Our first schools opened in September 2005 and two years later, His Excellency Nasser Hassan Al-Shaikh, Chairman of the Board of Taaleem, spearheaded a major ongoing investment in Beacon Education by National Bonds, a Dubai-based private joint stock company with around 50% ownership by the Government of Dubai.

Taaleem is the assumed name through which we will continue to deliver our promise to inspire students and help them to identify and develop their passions and talents.
