General Operative
We welcome applications for this support post to commence as soon as possible.
To provide support to the estates department, taking a professional and proactive approach to general maintenance, and on-going improvements of the site, treating Health and Safety as a priority in all aspects of the role.
The Estates Department exist to provide and maintain a high quality and safe teaching and learning environment for students. It is also vital that we provide high quality facilities to both teachers, support staff and governors in order to facilitate and maintain an outstanding working environment which is safe and secure. In addition, we aim to constantly improve facilities, through minor and major projects of work and through the reactive, planned and preventative maintenance programme.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Low level maintenance of college grounds, including the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), low level window cleaning and litter picking
- General maintenance of the Sports Pavilion, including cleaning, low level maintenance, legionella testing and fire alarm tests.
- Clean outdoor areas around college, including the smoking shelter, canopy, outdoor furniture, and bin store. Empty outdoor bins as required, and jet wash outdoor areas as needed.
- Respond to first aid requests and administer first aid as necessary
- Assist with event set up, including exam set up and take down, Open Days, Taster Days and Consultation Days.

The Estates department is looking for someone who has awareness of Health and Safety legislation, the ability to work in a quick and efficient manner and who is self-motivated proactive and flexible.

Terms and Conditions
Hours: 37 hours per week, 10.00am to 6.00pm, term time plus 2 weeks.

Our core activity is to provide education for students aged 16-18, offering a range of A-Level, BTEC and T-Level courses, at both level 2 and 3. An Outstanding College
Cardinal Newman is one of the highest performing sixth form colleges nationally for Value Added and the latest Ofsted Inspection in February 2023 graded all areas of the College as ‘outstanding’.
