GENERAL SECRETARY

Salary £134,386 per annum, plus car

Based at the Union’s national Headquarters in Rednal, Birmingham.

NASUWT is the voice of teachers and headteachers/principals throughout the UK, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Gibraltar and we are seeking to elect our next General Secretary.

We are looking for a highly experienced and committed trade unionist who has a dedication to the future of the teaching profession, equalities, workplace justice, and a great track-record of leading, managing and inspiring others.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the key issues affecting teachers and the education sector.

As General Secretary you will be able to apply expert knowledge and understanding of strategic legal, industrial, financial and people management matters.

The General Secretary will work with the National Executive to advance the interests of the Union and its members, including leading high-level negotiations and deputations with governments, administrations, employers and other bodies, and delivering vital campaigns with the Union’s national and international partners.

The successful applicant will be nominated as the National Executive candidate in the ballot of the Union’s membership, as required under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.

The NASUWT provides a defined benefit pension scheme.
