Job overview
International School Rheintal is seeking to recruit an outstanding Senior School German teacher for our growing community IB international school in a beautiful region of Switzerland. We actively welcome applications from underrepresented groups in international education, alongside being supportive of the needs of families with children.
The successful candidate will be joining our diverse team of dedicated and experienced international school teachers at our award-winning, not-for-profit, age 3-18 school.
Candidates should be highly experienced in teaching German, and committed to promoting multilingualism. We are looking for a strong German B, Language Acquisition, teacher. Should you be able to teach other languages and/or German A, that would be great but this is not an essential requirement (the priority is German B, Language Acquisition). We are looking for teachers that like to work in a diverse team, and who bring a professional commitment to a student-initiated, inquiry-led teaching and learning.
We offer a supportive community international school environment and are looking for teachers that are driven to contribute to our thriving school of over 200 students and fifty staff. In 2020 we were ranked 9th in Switzerland for our IBDP results and in the top 50 in Europe. We opened a new award-winning environmentally conscious campus in 2023. Our teachers are empowered to learn and develop, and to be fully supported in creating the very best learning opportunities for our students. If this sounds like a place you would like to be, where you can thrive and make a difference every day, then we are the school for you! It is an exciting time to be at ISR.
We are seeking teachers who:
- are aligned with our guiding statements and values
- are a qualified teacher with at least three years teaching experience (with qualified teacher status, or internationally recognised equivalent) with, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree
- Have significant experience and expertise in teaching German Language B, Language Acquisition in a Senior School, age 11-18 environment (experience in teaching other languages and/or German A would be a nice-to have, but this is not essential for this role)
- Promote a well organised, inspiring and inquiry-led learning environment where academic and personal excellence is fostered
- Offer enthusiasm and demonstrates a positive, empathetic approach to students, colleagues and the wider community
- Are internationally-minded and committed to the IB philosophy and approach
- Are excited about the potential of technology to improve teaching and learning for all
- Are committed to professional development and improvement
- Engage with, and contribute to, the full life of the school
We will provide:
- An excellent salary and package
- An opportunity to work in an award winning campus in an area of outstanding natural beauty
- A professionally-stimulating and supportive local and international community environment
- An opportunity to impact on the future design and development of our school
