Actual salary: £26,726.95 – £32,331.72   

Hours: 36 per week, term time only plus 1 week to be worked in the school holidays (40 weeks per year)

Contract: Fixed term to 31 December 2024 due to funding

An exciting new role has been created to support the ongoing work to improve student attendance across primary and secondary schools in Hastings. Funded and supported by the Department for Education, we are looking for an Attendance Co-ordinator who has a passion for supporting schools and students to ensure our young people have full access to the education they are entitled to. This is a fixed term role due to limited external funding with specific project focus to improve attendance.  

We are looking for someone who will be dedicated and enthusiastic to work as part of a team across Hastings Primary & Secondary Schools.  

The successful applicant will be based at and employed by Ark Alexandra Academy and will work in conjunction with the Family Support Workers, Attendance Leads across the three secondary schools in Hastings to understand the current challenges and barriers that are affecting attendance for vulnerable and disengaged learners. They will report to the Partnership Attendance Lead and will help share evaluate effective practice already in place with other schools in the town, including University of Brighton Academy Trust, Diocese and local authority schools. The Family Support Worker and Attendance Lead roles are also fixed term roles which have been developed specifically for this project. 

This is a term time only position, which means you will only work 39 weeks of the year, plus one extra week in the school holidays as directed by your line manager. Pay is spread evenly over the year so you would never have a month without money.

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
  • Be committed to raising attendance in a challenging environment

  • Have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to use your own initiative
  • Good ICT skills

Ark Alexandra is a large secondary academy with a Sixth Form provision in Hastings, East Sussex and is the largest secondary in the successful Ark network. A popular school that is heavily over-subscribed, we have grown to have over 1,600 students this year.
