Job overview
The CEO of the Mill Hill Education Group invites applications for the role of Head of Grimsdell following the appointment of Kate Simon as the Founding Head of Mill Hill International School Thailand.
The Mill Hill Education Group is a rapidly growing family of leading independent schools educating children aged 3 to 18. As of September 2024, there are 10 schools in the Group, positioning Mill Hill as a market leader in this increasing trend in the charitable schools sector. The schools are united by a shared educational ethos and operate as one charity with one set of governors. Each of the schools seek to instil a lifelong love of learning, equipping pupils with a readiness to embrace change that sets them up to succeed in the present and in the future. This has been implicit in the motto of Mill Hill School since its foundation in 1807: ‘Instilling Values, Inspiring Minds’.
Grimsdell is a co-educational pre-prep school set in stunning grounds just ten miles from central London. Educating more than 200 pupils aged 3 to 7, Grimsdell is known for its Creative Curriculum, which goes far beyond the National Curriculum to foster curiosity, enquiry and problem-solving skills in young learners. The school's commitment to curriculum innovation and vibrant, modern pedagogy has earned it a reputation as one of London’s top pre-prep schools, as reflected in the accolade of Pre-Prep School of the Year at the Independent School Awards in 2022. Grimsdell will continue to be a centre of excellence for early years education, setting high standards of practice, not only within the Group but across the broader educational landscape.
With vast green spaces and access to the excellent facilities across the Mill Hill Schools, pupils at Grimsdell benefit from extensive outdoor learning opportunities across all subject areas. The Forest School has a pivotal place within the offering and the successful transition of pupils to Belmont at Year 3 ensures continuity in their educational journey.
This is a truly exciting time to join The Mill Hill Education Group and lead this thriving pre-prep school through the next phase of its development. The Head of Grimsdell is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day leadership and management of the school whilst working closely with the CEO and Director of Prep Schools, who will support and advise. The Head will also benefit from a network of fellow Heads, and this mutual support and collaboration is reflective of the overall culture that epitomises the Mill Hill Education Group.
