(1100 pupils aged 3 - 18)
HEAD OF A LEVEL BUSINESS (FULL-TIME)
We seek to appoint a well-qualified and dynamic full-time Head of A Level Business to join us in September 2025. Our primary need is A level Business teaching and the leadership of the subject. The ability to teach A level Economics would offer useful flexibility, but this is not essential. Aside from a passion for teaching Business, candidates should be keen to contribute to the broader life of the School through cultural, sporting or other extra-curricular activities. This is an expectation for all teachers at the School.
Yarm School is a highly successful 3-18 coeducational day school, situated in the attractive and historic town of Yarm on a beautiful stretch of the River Tees. Set in stunning landscaped gardens based around The Friarage Building, the school combines historic and modern accommodation and provides outstanding classroom, music and sporting facilities. We aim to develop well-rounded young men and women with excellent qualifications and the independence, motivation and self-belief to forge their own path in life.
Further information about the school, together with an application form (which must be used) and job description, can be found under ‘Vacancies’ on our website www.yarmschool.org. Please apply as soon as possible and no later than midday on Friday, 1st November 2024. The school reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date if appropriate to the context of the field. Early applications are therefore very much encouraged. Applications should be submitted by e-mail to Dr Huw Williams, Headmaster as below:

About Yarm School
Yarm School
Yarm School was founded in 1978. Since then it has become the major educational success story in the North East and the School is now firmly established amongst the country’s leading co-educational day schools. In addition to the Senior School, there is a Preparatory School, and a Pre-Prep which includes a Nursery. In total, there are about 1,100 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18 with 740 in the Senior School and a Sixth Form of just over 220.
Ethos
Yarm School has a strong commitment to educating the whole child – ‘educating for life’. We offer an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities, both within and outside lessons, which help to foster inter-personal skills, confidence and build relationships. A Yarm School education is about far more than just academic achievement.
Redevelopment
Due to the rapid growth in pupil numbers and recent investment in facilities (£30million), this is an exciting time to be joining the school and contributing to its further success.
The Senior School comprises both period and modern buildings. This investment in the fabric of the school and an on-going commitment to state of the art technology ensures that teachers will have the best facilities and resources in which to work.
The Pre-Prep and Preparatory Schools have their own selfcontained accommodation on a safe and equally delightful site. The Pre-Prep is housed in a modern purpose-built development, whilst the Preparatory School is located on the site of the original Yarm Grammar School (founded 1590;oldest building dated 1884).
Location
Yarm is a beautiful market town on the edge of the Teesside conurbation which enjoys easy access to both town and countryside, including the nearby North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales and stunning coastline. Opportunities for outdoor pursuits and exploration of all kinds are many and varied. Similarly, the cities of Newcastle, York and Leeds are within close range and provide much in the way of arts and culture. With superb rail network links in the town itself and nearby, London is also only 2.5 hours away by direct train.
