Job Overview:

The Cottesmore School team is seeking a driven and innovative individual to join our dynamic boarding prep school as the Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As the Head of AI, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the integration of AI technologies and educational strategies into the curriculum. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of education, empowering young minds with cutting-edge AI knowledge and skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Design and develop a comprehensive AI curriculum that aligns with the national curriculum guidelines and prepares students for the digital age.
  2. Leadership: Lead a team of educators and specialists to ensure effective implementation of AI initiatives, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  3. AI Integration: Identify and implement suitable AI tools, resources, and platforms to enhance teaching and learning across various subjects, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  4. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with school leaders to develop a long-term AI strategy that fosters innovation, stays abreast of emerging technologies, and adapts to evolving educational needs.
  5. Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive AI lessons, inspiring students to explore AI concepts, coding principles, and ethical considerations.
  6. Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessment methods to measure students' progress in AI education, monitor their achievement, and provide constructive feedback.
  7. Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with industry experts, AI professionals, and research institutions to stay informed about the latest AI developments and facilitate unique learning opportunities for students.
  8. Community Engagement: Organize AI-related events, workshops, and competitions to engage students, parents, and the wider community, promoting awareness and understanding of AI.
  9. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with AI trends, pedagogical advancements, and relevant research to enhance personal expertise and share best practices with colleagues.
  10. Data Privacy and Ethics: Promote responsible AI use, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and fostering ethical discussions surrounding AI implications.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, curriculum development, or educational leadership, preferably in the primary or prep education sector
  • Proficient understanding of AI concepts, machine learning algorithms, coding languages, and AI tools/platforms suitable for junior learners
  • Strong knowledge of the UK national curriculum and its integration with AI education
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues
  • Creative and forward-thinking mindset with a passion for educational innovation
  • Familiarity with data privacy and ethical considerations in AI
  • Proven organizational and project management abilities

Cottesmore School is an award-winning academic boarding preparatory school for girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 13 on the border of Surrey and Sussex. We also have a Pre-prep on site for girls and boys aged between 4 and 8.

Since 1894, Cottesmore has been preparing girls and boys for boarding senior schools.

As well as maintaining academic rigour, Cottesmore also believes that sport, music, art, design and drama are important aspects of school life. A vast array of activities and hobbies are also available to the children including riding, shooting, fishing, paddle boarding, ten-pin bowling, golf and footgolf.
