Job overview
Tes is supporting the appointment of a Head of Business to join a High School for Girls based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The North East’s leading independent girls’ day school has an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated Head of Business.
They want their teaching staff to have high expectations of children and young people, including a commitment to ensuring that they can achieve their full educational potential. Establishing fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with all students is part of the ethos within their thriving school.
The successful candidate should have a secure knowledge, understanding and experience of both GCSE and A-Level Business, with the ability to contribute to business and enterprise co-curricular activities. The ability to teach A-Level Economics would be an advantage but is not essential.
About the Business Department
The Business Department is made up of a friendly team of specialised teachers, who are passionate about motivating and inspiring high aspirations in all their students. The school is committed to providing a curriculum that is highly engaging and inspires a love of Business, helping to equip all of their students with skills and knowledge for their futures beyond school. A-Level Business has had a successful track record within school and this year they introduced GCSE Business to their curriculum offer. With a high uptake from students, they deliver the course across three classes in Year 10.
They have exceptional, state-of-the-art teaching facilities and a passion and commitment to developing STEM-related opportunities for all their students both internally and through their higher education partners and industry links. They offer a wide range of activities and opportunities to further support the curriculum, including clubs and competitions and through their membership of the wider family of schools, an unrivalled host of further opportunities for their students and their staff.
Teaching and learning is at the heart of what they do and through training opportunities, you can develop your professional skills to reach your career aspirations.
About the School
This is the leading academic independent girls’ day school in the North East of England. Their students are ambitious, bright, enthusiastic and eager to learn, and they offer a warm and supportive community. They occupy a number of sites in suburban, leafy, Jesmond and Sandyford, close to Newcastle city centre with excellent transport links. They offer a variety of benefits, including:
- Competitive rate of pay and conditions.
