We are looking for a Head of Department (HOD) for our English curriculum who is motivated, inspiring and has an innovative approach to teaching and learning. Here’s the standard bit: You will lead a very strong team of professional teachers across a variety of provisions across the English departments.

You will develop and implement policies and procedures that support the quality improvement of the area, you will inspirationally lead members of a team to deliver appropriate and engaging curricula ensuring the sharing of good practice wherever possible. You will also develop links with HE institutions, employers and professionals with the focus of participating in new initiatives, increasing skills development and work experience opportunities for all learners in the department.

What you’ll need: Enthusiasm, resilience and a highly motivated approach to education with recent experience of teaching and leading on a range of academic programmes with outstanding achievement and high-grade outcomes, particularly for GCSE English.  You will need a detailed knowledge of current curriculum developments and the future landscape of academic qualifications. The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree or equivalent, a teaching qualification and have experience of internal moderation and rigorous standardisation of academic programmes/provision.

Tameside College is a coeducational further education establishment. It is situated in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne, in Lancashire. It gives students a range of qualifications to choose from. This includes BTEC, Apprenticeships and degrees. The college also manages and owns Clarendon Sixth Form College, Camp Street, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire OL6 6DF.
