About us

Doha College is one of the world’s leading British International Schools. Proudly not-for-profit, we have been named as one of the top hundred private schools in the world in both the prestigious Spear’s School Index and the Carfax Index and are Qatar’s sole entry in both lists. Our examination results at (I)GCSE and A-Level are amongst the best of any school of our type globally.

To our teaching staff, we offer what is widely regarded to be one of the most competitive packages in the Middle East and includes a high tax-free salary, an accommodation allowance sufficient to cover high quality accommodation on desirable expatriate compounds, medical insurance, school fee support (75% of fees in the school for up to three children), annual flights and a generous a settling-in allowance and end-of-service gratuity.

Our commitment to supporting your career is matched by our dedication to your well-being, with an innovative instructional coaching approach designed to ensure all teachers, however experienced, continue to learn, and are helped to become the very best they can be. We also have a comprehensive induction and orientation programme, which allows new staff to effectively navigate the challenges that come with an international move. Our free on-site crèche for primary-aged children ensures that working parents are supported and staff representation on our Board of Governors helps to shape the future strategic direction of the school.

Best of all, our vibrant international student community is a delight to work with and our innovative approach encourages everyone at the College to bring with them ideas and a willingness to try new things.

If you are interested in joining our inspiring team which values your personal and professional growth - and you will bring a commitment to the highest standards, positivity, kindness and warmth - we very much look forward to receiving your application.

The opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic, and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics, with a responsibility as Head of Department for Key Stage 3 Mathematics, to join our excellent team of dedicated, passionate, and student-oriented teachers. We offer the UK National Curriculum in Key Stage 3, and follow the White Rose Education scheme of study. We offer combinations of IGCSE Mathematics, Statistics, and Further Pure Mathematics in Key Stage 4 and the International A Levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5. Experience of, and expertise in, teaching A Level Mathematics would be desirable.

The department has an extensive enrichment programme, with many of our students thriving in mathematics challenges with the University of Waterloo and UKMT, as well as a range of other co-curricular opportunities and house competitions for students.

All our classrooms are equipped with interactive screens and  all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry, and all staff and students use Google Classroom.

About you

As Head of Department for Key Stage 3 Mathematics, you will be responsible for, and have autonomy for, the running and development of the Key Stage 3 curriculum. You will work closely with the Head of Department for Mathematics, alongside the Heads of Department for Key Stages 4 and 5, to lead and develop a team of highly experienced and dedicated practitioners, and to ensure a clear transition through the key stages building on the solid foundation of Key Stage 3.  The ideal candidate will be able to inspire and motivate both our teachers, and students,  applying a range of strategies, and help the department foster a lifelong love of mathematics in our student community. In your role as a Mathematics teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a full range of Mathematics classes across all three key stages. Candidates must have qualified teacher status, with a specialism in Mathematics.

We are a British international school, and all of our lessons are taught in English. A high standard of written and spoken English is, therefore, essential. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including co-curricular activities.
