Job overview

Derby Cathedral School is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and proven teacher of Mathematics to lead an emerging department at this new Church of England Secondary School in the centre of the city.

Due to open in September 2018 with 180 students in Year 7, the school is scheduled for annual growth of the same number, up to its total of 1200 students, including 300 in the Sixth Form. Initially located in city centre, temporary buildings, the school moves to a state of the art, purpose built site in 2020.

This position will see the successful candidate lead the department through rapid expansion in both student numbers and staffing. The ultimate aim for the post holder is to deliver outstanding GCSE results in Mathematics. In due course it is envisaged that the successful candidate will teach across all three relevant key stages. In addition the appointed post holder will be a member of the Extended Senior Leadership Team, given that Mathematics is one of the school's two specialisms.

Derby Cathedral School is part of the wider family of schools within the Diocese of Derby and the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and is also affiliated to a local teaching school alliance all of which offer valuable CPD opportunities.

This appointment is subject to teachers’ national terms of pay and conditions (STPCD).

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance.
