We are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages with a passion for teaching French and/or German to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the MFL department, drive curriculum development, and inspire a love of languages among our students.
The Head of MFL is responsible to a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the efficient running, development and performance of the department, supporting all members of the department in their responsibilities, and directing, as appropriate, the work for those colleagues to ensure successful and effective teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and direction for the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Teach French and/or German across Key Stages 3 to 4, delivering engaging and challenging lessons.
- Develop and implement innovative schemes of work that promote language acquisition and intercultural understanding.
- Monitor and track student progress, ensuring that all students reach their full potential.
- Manage and support a team of MFL teachers, providing professional development and guidance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and promote the school’s MFL strategy and vision.
- Organize language-focused extracurricular activities, trips, and cultural events to enhance student engagement.
- Stay current with changes in the MFL curriculum, teaching methodologies, and educational technologies.
