Post Title: Head of MFL (Spanish Specialist)

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Salary: MPR-UPR + TLR 2C (£7,017)

Start Date: September 2022

This is an exciting time for Ormskirk School as we enter into a sponsor arrangement with Endeavour Learning Trust, a partnership which is already providing a wide range of opportunities for both our staff and students and is rapidly transforming our school.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to join an ever-improving department within a newly created faculty, committed to engaging our students in all aspects of its provision.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Head of Faculty for Modern Foreign Languages, who will lead the development and improvement of the MFL curriculum at all key stages. The suitable candidate will be able to identify opportunities to improve the curriculum at all levels and drive the requisite changes within the department, throughout Key Stage 3, GCSE and within the development of our A Level provision.  Experience of teaching A Level is desirable but not essential, though the candidate would be expected to work towards teaching at this level.

The team of staff currently in place is optimistic and completely committed to the rapid and sustainable improvements currently taking place, firmly rooted in the existing good practice already evident in the school and across the Trust. This is a school that is going places.

As a Head of Faculty you will work with a committed team of specialist teachers at Ormskirk, as well as contributing to the whole school and Trust Wide Curriculum Leader teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and energetic specialist practitioner to join our staff team at a very important time in the school’s development.

We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to lead by example, raise student achievement for all and to inspire our students in the study of Modern Foreign Languages.

In return we offer supportive leadership at all levels, a positive learning environment, on-going professional development and the opportunity to make a difference working in a thriving school with wonderful young people. We are also very proud of the many advances we have made to reduce unnecessary work load and support positive wellbeing.

As part of the interview process candidates will be required to teach a lesson.  Further details will be provided for the successful applicants following the application process.
