Job overview
LEAP - Head of Primary Alternative Provision
(Primary Alternative Provision and Assessment Centre)
TLR 1a & SEND Allowance
Required for April 2025
London East Alternative Provision (LEAP) is an inner city, successful and high-achieving all-through alternative provision located in Tower Hamlets. In our most recent OFSTED inspection in June 2024, we were awarded an outstanding rating in all areas for the highly skilled, best practice alternative provision education we provide to some of the most vulnerable children in Tower Hamlets and beyond.
In addition to our well-established, successful secondary school alternative provision, we have a primary assessment and support base for the most vulnerable primary school aged children in need of comprehensive cognitive, behavioural and psycho-neurological assessments and support to signpost them to the right provision or return to their original mainstream primary school.
We are seeking to appoint a Head of Primary Provision, who is ideally a qualified or aspiring SENCO or who has leadership experience in AP or SEMH provision.
The Head of our new Primary provision will have strategic oversight of our assessment and support centre, ensure all children are being assessed by appropriate specialists and will ensure close collaboration with our extensive therapeutic services at LEAP, local primary provisions as well as external agencies such as Childrens’ Social Care.
Our LEAP Primary Provision looks after 6 full-time equivalent children of primary school age (some of whom will be with us on a part time basis), who will come with a multitude of complex social care as well as cognitive and behavioural needs.
The Head of Primary Provision will play a major role under the direction of the Deputy Head in establishing and embedding the aims and objectives of the school, managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives of the school and monitoring progress towards their achievement as well as liaising with leadership teams in mainstream primary schools in Tower Hamlets.
This post is offered at TLR 1a, as well as a SEND allowance.
Those wishing to be considered for the role should complete an application form and return to Kathryn Ryan, School Business Manager, by 9am, Friday, 6th December 2024. Please be aware that we are unable to accept CVs.
We would welcome and encourage potential candidates to visit our schools. Please telephone or email to arrange this or for an application pack.
- Closing date for applications: 9am Friday, 6th December 2024
- Shortlisting of applications: Monday, 9th December 2024
- Interviews: Friday, 13th December 2024
London East Alternative Provision is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
