Job overview
Budapest British International School (BBIS), a proud IB World School, seeks an innovative, positive, and inspirational Head of Secondary School to join us at a pivotal moment in our development. With the confirmation of our IB Continuum status expected soon, BBIS is set to become the first IB Continuum School in Budapest and Hungary's first with a seamless IB education from Primary through to the Diploma Programme (DP) in which students have graduated and gone onto University. As we continue to grow, BBIS remains firmly committed to putting students first.
Strengths in sports, arts, business and community service complement our focus on academic excellence. With a modern IT infrastructure supported by Google Workspace, we embrace technology to enhance teaching and learning practices.
As a COBIS-accredited school, BBIS combines the best of British and international education. We offer clear entry requirements, small class sizes (16-18 in Primary and 18 in Secondary), and a two-form entry model, fostering a supportive and high-quality learning environment.
We are now seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Secondary School who can build on the excellent foundations established by our current Head of Secondary. Over the past three years, we have successfully developed the Secondary School into a strong and student-focused environment. The incoming Head of Secondary will continue this work, bringing energy, expertise, and innovation further to lead the implementation of BBIS’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will drive and oversee the achievement of the plan’s ambitious goals, ensuring that:
- Evidence-based teaching is at the heart of classroom practice,
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is embedded throughout the school community,
- Our Curriculum prepares students to thrive in an ever-changing global landscape,
- Character Development remains a cornerstone of school life
- Environmental Stewardship becomes a guiding principle

About Budapest British International School
At Budapest British International School, we believe that a successful education is all about inspired, imaginative teaching, centred on the learner as an individual. We nurture students not only to achieve academic success but also to become true global citizens.
BBIS is an International Baccalaureate World School. We work with children from the Early Years who enjoy the Primary Years Learning Activites within our Candidacy Programme. This is the basis of their learning and then as the children become young adults, we work within the IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma in our Secondary School. Our school community is made up of over 420 students from over 30 nations. We pride ourselves on a small family with big ambitions!
BBIS is the only school in Budapest to offer a Secondary continuum of IB-accredited programmes: the IB MYP and DP.
Our programmes feature an inquiry approach that aligns student interests with what they learn, thereby enriching their natural curiosity and promoting a love of learning. Our team of internationally-experienced, skilled and passionate teachers model the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and encourage students to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
A strong sense of common purpose pervades our learning community. We believe that trust and strong parental participation are an integral part of quality education and we see parents as our partners in their children’s learning journey.
Thank you for your interest in BBIS. We look forward to welcoming you.
