We are a friendly, successful and growing British school based in the town of Vila-real in the region of Valencia, Spain. Vila-real is well connected and offers beautiful beaches, stunning mountains, lively towns, and benefits from its close proximity to the vibrant city of Valencia. The UK national curriculum is taught throughout the school and our students range from age 2 up to 18. The Primary school has approximately 300 students from Early Years to Year 6 and the Secondary school has approximately 300 students from Year 7 to Year 13. Last summer all of our sixth form students successfully completed their A-Levels and gained places at a range of universities. The vast majority of our students are Spanish and learn in English, apart from in the compulsory Spanish subjects, which are all taught in their native Spanish language.

For September 2024 or January 2025 we are looking to recruit a Head of our Secondary school, to lead an exciting, vibrant and creative team of fully qualified and experienced teachers. The successful candidate will have UK experience of teaching across the Secondary age range as well as a proven track record in a senior management post/post of responsibility.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a leading role in the school improvement and school self-evaluation process.
  • Have experience of delivering clearly measurable outcomes through leading practice and process across Secondary school.
  • Have experience delivering training to all Secondary staff as well as working with different middle leaders to further develop areas of the Secondary school.
  • be confident with the use of data, tracking and reporting to inform decisions and actions with regard to areas to improve as a school.
  • be able to work closely with the headteacher and other members of the SLT to share ideas and discuss points raised.
  • be confident with the operational leadership of the Secondary school.
  • show a knowledge of the systems in place to assure the quality of teaching and learning across the Secondary school and be aware of how to lead these to ensure that we continue to progress and improve in these areas.
  • be confident to provide pastoral leadership ensuring that students are happy and safe.
  • Have clear experience and evidence of driving and enabling middle managers to be accountable and effectively run their departments.
  • Demonstrate a solution focused ability to work constructively with all community stakeholders.

Amongst the excellent academic facilities offered there are 3 science laboratories, 3 computer suites, a large library, purpose built sports hall and theatre, 2 swimming pools and extensive sports facilities. The school has its own dining room and catering service along with an optional bus service covering Vila-real, Castellón and surrounding areas.
