Job overview

About the Post

This post has a 50% teaching load. We welcome applicants from a range of subject disciplines.

We are looking for an outstanding UK-curriculum teacher and leader. Experience of working in top British schools, particularly in the UK but of course also internationally, is very important and UK teaching qualifications essential. Our teachers need an unquenchable desire to make things better: excellent knowledge, skills and understanding are requirements, but we are always trying to improve, to redefine, to grow. If you simply like the idea of doing what you have always done – or what everyone else always does – but with nicer weather and great beaches nearby, this is the wrong school for you. Yes, the weather and beaches are great; but we are here to do things better, to work harder (yes – not just smarter), to be more committed, to get better outcomes, to give more attention, than we have ever done.

The House System is a fundamental part of life at WCIB and teachers in the Senior School are also House Tutors.

In a lively day school which seeks always to inspire and excite students, a willingness to contribute to areas of school life outside the classroom, including sport, is always advantageous. All teachers are also asked to offer enrichment activities, which are delivered in timetabled sessions during the school day.

About Wellington College

Founded by Queen Victoria and opened in 1859, Wellington College was created to honour the memory of the first Duke of Wellington, who not only defeated Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo in 1815 but also went on to serve the country as peacetime Prime Minister. Over 160 years later, the Tatler calls Wellington ‘clearly a leader in the world of education’ and it is, without doubt, one of the top schools in the UK and across the globe.

About Wellington College Bangkok

Wellington College Bangkok opened in August 2018 and will grow to accommodate 1,600 girls and boys aged 2-18 years. The school’s facilities are world-class: the design and appearance are modern yet combine distinctive features of Wellington College, Berkshire and elements of Thai culture. The buildings are set amidst a large, beautiful, green campus in Krungthep Kreetha, a suburban area midway between Bangkok city and Bangkok International Airport, right next to the expansive greens and fairways of the Unico Grande Golf Course.

In our first year of operation, we filled classes from Pre-Nursery to Year 6. In September 2024, we opened our first Sixth Form classes, having expanded naturally year on year. Student numbers in the four-form-entry Junior School are very buoyant and, on the back of becoming the first school in the world to gain full COBIS Patron’s Accreditation within the first year of operation, and subsequent full membership of FOBISIA and CIS, the College is already recognised as one of the best international schools anywhere. Our new Senior School buildings are spectacular and extraordinary, confirming Wellington as the most dynamically progressive and educationally significant new school in the region.

It is a fundamental principle that every child can thrive when provided with outstanding, wide-ranging and open-ended opportunities to develop, explore and learn. Our students’ individual responses to these opportunities, shepherded by some of the best teachers in the world and supported by our uniquely dedicated pastoral teams, can set them on the path to extraordinary academic achievement—which, at Wellington, routinely goes hand-in-hand with excellence in performing and visual arts, sport and service to others. This is what it means for the whole child to flourish.

Wellington College Bangkok

Wellington College Bangkok’s mission is to deliver the most exceptional international education in Thailand—and across the region. We are proud and thrilled to be able to provide a very important piece in the jigsaw of Bangkok’s growing prominence as a Southeast Asian hub, and we are delighted to welcome families of all nationalities.

Our School is purpose-built on an expansive greenfield campus. The buildings, designed by world-class architects, are airy and modern yet retain echoes of the grandeur of the past. Our sports provision includes a full Olympic-size 50-metre pool, a huge gymnasium, a 400-metre track, sports pitches, basketball and tennis courts, indoor and outdoor golf facilities. Our fully-equipped classrooms, Learning Studios, Reading Rooms, Harkness rooms, Faculty Salons, our extraordinary 600-seat Theatre, our stylish Copenhagen Café (named after the Duke of Wellington’s favourite horse), our equally chic Café 1815, as well as the recreation areas—the green of the trees and the grass, the blue of the water—all play their part in making the experience of being at Wellington unique, exciting and, on top of that, fun.

The global family of Wellington Colleges—in the UK, China, here in Thailand, and shortly in India—has a very strong reputation for the development of academic excellence, international-mindedness, leadership, responsibility, service to others, outstanding pastoral provision and an exceptionally rich programme of co-curricular activities.

Our values grow from those of our close partner school, the world-renowned Wellington College in Berkshire.
