Head

The Mall is a successful nursery and prep school in Twickenham educating 190 pupils aged between 6 months and 11 years old. The School’s mission is to create an environment that ignites the love of learning in children, through passion, joy, confidence and happiness. This is achieved by providing a supportive community and place to grow, where everyone has a voice. The Mall prides itself as a school where true potential can be developed and, while non-selective at entry, has gained a strong academic and all round reputation with pupils moving on to a wide range of senior schools, often with scholarships for academic, sports, drama and music achievement.

Located in Twickenham with easy access to both central London and the Home Counties, The Mall has excellent facilities including modern and spacious classrooms, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a purpose-built sports hall and the Creative and Performing Arts Centre that houses a large art studio, design and technology workshop, 130 seat theatre, music room and several small rooms for instrumental lessons.

This is an exciting moment in The Mall’s history with the School having opened a thriving nursery in September 2022 and girls set to join from Reception for the first time in September 2023. In light of the retirement of the current Head, the Governors are seeking to appoint a visionary leader, wholly committed to the core values of The Mall and who will continue to develop the School with energy and ambition. This is an excellent opportunity, in close partnership with a fully supportive board, to build on the School’s success to ensure it remains a market-leading preparatory school.

The successful candidate will demonstrate alignment with the School’s educational aims and values, and have the desire to nurture its strengths and clearly articulate these in the vibrant and highly competitive local marketplace. They will have an entrepreneurial attitude and an excellent ability to lead and engage with teams, with first-class communication skills and the gravitas to act as an ambassador to a range of audiences. They will be ambitious for themselves and the School and bring a strategic mindset to drive The Mall forward to ensure it continues to thrive in challenging market conditions.
