Job overview

The Head is keen to receive applications from experienced Personal Assistants who are keen and ready for their next challenge. Providing an organised, efficient, confidential secretarial and administrative service to the Head, this role will be a key contact both within and outside the School.

The role is responsible for ensuring the high standard and accuracy in all documents produced for the Head, including receiving incoming and preparing outgoing correspondence, and other documents as required.

The Head’s PA is responsible for organising and manging the Head’s diary, including arranging appointments, itineraries, making travel arrangements and co-ordinating meetings and events. They also manage communications with the Prep School, the Governors and other relevant contacts on behalf of the Head.

The successful postholder will respond to queries on behalf of the Head, including prioritising issues, investigating queries, preparing responses and resolving problems where appropriate. They will be expected to welcome the Head’s visitors, answer incoming queries and produce agendas and note-take at key meetings. This is a truly varied role, where no day will be the same.

Whilst previous experience of working in a school environment would be advantageous, it is not essential. Instead, priority will be placed on professionalism, integrity, an eye for detail, high levels organisational skills, a proactive and solutions-oriented attitude and excellent customer service.

This full time all year around role, requires an experienced, organised, flexible individual who thrives on getting the job done.

Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 900 pupils on the school roll. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The Senior School teaches pupils between the ages of 11-18. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 3 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 35 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.
