Institut Le Rosey, Switzerland’s oldest and most prestigious boarding school, is seeking an outstanding Head for September 2018 or January 2019. With 430 students from over 70 nationalities, Le Rosey is a vibrant global community with a unique character shaped by Gstaad (the winter campus), the bilingual programmes, its cultural and linguistic diversity and the unusual but very successful boarding system

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a highly successful school as it enters a genuinely exciting next stage in its evolution. Reporting to, and working in close partnership with, the Director General, it is envisaged that the new Head will work with the current postholder, Mr. Michael Gray before taking over completely when he retires in 2019.

The next Head will be an accomplished educator with a track record of successful leadership experience and the expertise to further develop the academic life of the School. Warm and engaging, the successful candidate will combine the cultural sensitivity and global perspective to inspire a diverse international community with the gravitas and authenticity to inspire and engage multiple stakeholders. About Institut Le Rosey

Founded in 1880, Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) offers a rounded bilingual education in English and/or French for 440 students aged 8-18, leading to the IB Diploma and French baccalauréat.  It also offers a unique two-campus system through its move from a 75-acre château setting by Lake Geneva to the school’s alpine campus every winter term. An IB World School, Le Rosey is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and MSA.

An International Mission

Le Rosey is a highly international community, with well over 60 nationalities in its student body, and over 20 on the teaching staff.  The cultural and linguistic diversity of its 440 students is guaranteed by selective admissions with no more than 10% of students from any country. This multinational mix creates a special and very friendly campus atmosphere, as well as enhancing global awareness and international understanding.

Academics

In addition to promoting bilingualism and biculturalism, Le Rosey offers a broad academic programme and range of IB and “Pre-Bac” subjects, with an exceptionally strong tradition in foreign languages.  Class sizes are small and the main campus in Rolle is particularly well equipped.  All students without exception sit the full diploma of the IB or the French “bac”; results are excellent (IB/French bac average of 36+ points), and all students go on to universities in the USA, UK and across the world, with well over 30% to the Ivy League, Ivy league Plus, Oxbridge, and top-ranked universities across the world.

Sports, Arts and Expeditions

Le Rosey is committed to holistic educational principles.  An exceptionally varied, sports, expedition, arts and cultural programme takes full advantage of facilities which include riding stables, a sailing centre, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness and “wellness” centre.  There is also a strong winter sports tradition. The school boasts an exceptional state-of-the-art Arts and Learning Centre and 900-seat concert hall (www.roseyconcerthall.ch) on its Rolle campus.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing Statement

Institut Le Rosey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment. All new employees are required to undertake a security clearance, which includes providing criminal records reports as well as a special excerpt from the Swiss criminal records for people working with children.

Diversity Statement

Le Rosey is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through valuing diversity. Staff, students, and teachers work toward the furthering of an inclusive and supportive environment. As such, we encourage and welcome applications from candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
