Arnold House was founded in 1905 in St John’s Wood. It is an independent preparatory school located in London, NW8, for boys to the age of 13, and a member of IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools). In September 2021, we opened an Early Years department a short walk away, at Marlborough Place.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic personal assistant to support the Headmaster.

You will have strong organisational and administrative skills, excellent written and spoken English, a keen eye for detail, a high level of tact and discretion and a professional, yet friendly approach to dealing with parents, visitors and staff. You will be flexible and adaptable to change and used to working in a fast-paced environment. Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a school.

You will report to the Headmaster and work closely with other members of the Leadership and Management Team, in particular the Bursar, the Registrar, the Deputy Headmasters and the Head of External Relations.

Salary and benefits

Salary is competitive but dependent on skills and previous experience.

The School closes for periods in the longer Easter, Christmas and Summer holidays and the three week-long half terms. Holidays taken at these times, by arrangement, will amount to no less than nine weeks in an academic year.

Office hours during term time are 8am-5pm. In addition attendance is expected at some evening functions, such as Prizegiving, and sports or arts performances.

Arnold House School is an independent Church of England primary school for boys aged 3-13, located in the St John's Wood area of north-west London. Arnold House School was established in 1905 with just nine pupils. Today there are eight year groups, each divided into two forms.

The school aims for class sizes of between 16 and 18. The main academic subjects are taught with a view to meeting the standards set by the Common Entrance syllabus, which relates to the demands of the national curriculum but with extra time devoted to French, classics and games.
