About Alleyn Court Preparatory School

Alleyn Court Preparatory School is a friendly, caring school with happy and enthusiastic children.

The school is situated in a semi-rural site of some 15 acres with extensive playing fields, a pavilion, sports hall, tennis courts, academic buildings and a Tudor walled garden. We have two wooded areas (with Forest School) and a pond with a small wooded island on it.

The early years in education are of crucial importance and we offer outstanding opportunities for children to learn in friendly, structured environments with access to splendid facilities. Our Pre- Prep starts with Lower and Upper Nursery (in Imperial) using the Montessori principles, from where children then move to the Wilcox Building to enter Reception which transitions towards a more formal approach in Yrs. 1 and 2.

We believe in offering a broad curriculum augmented by a wide range of sports and other activities. Music, Art, French, Information Control Technology, Drama, PE and Games all have a strong presence and are taught by specialist teachers from Yr1. Class teachers are supported by highly professional Learning Support Assistants making the rations of adults to staff unsurpassed in the area.

At the beginning of Year 3 children will move up to the Tomlinson Block (small transitions building resilience). Here they will explore the Prep School curriculum and extensive opportunities through to Yr6, when they will leave us having become curious, courageous and compassionate individuals full of character and purpose.

At the start of Year 4 our pupils benefit from increasing specialist teaching in Maths and English. In Years 5 and 6 all lessons are taught by a subject-specialist teacher which supports the smoothest transition to children’s secondary education and outstanding progress in all areas. Although Alleyn Court is a non-selective school we have high expectations of all our pupils to fulfil their potential academically, artistically, socially and in sport. We prepare the children for the 11+ to enter the excellent local grammar schools, all of which figure each year in the top 50 state schools in the country. Our pupils are also prepared for entry to a wide variety of senior schools including major independent schools and local comprehensives at age 11. Outstanding support is given to all children that experience learning and emotional  difficulties There are over 260 pupils in the school who are taught by more than 40 highly dedicated and fully qualified teachers supported by teaching assistants.
