Job overview
We are delighted that you are considering applying to lead our thriving Federation.
We have been very fortunate to have our current Headteacher at the helm through the last 7 years. He leaves behind our Federation very well placed for continued success under strong continuing leadership:
- We look beyond Loddon with PIXL, various local networks and buy access to independent Human Resource (HR) support. We are fortunate to have built a decent network and experience in Norfolk through working with other schools on IEBs.
- We have a stable and very committed staff with a healthy spread of experience
- Our Headteacher has established and constantly updates our method of assessment to constructively use output from our twice-yearly testing to best target interventions.
- The constant challenge of Curriculum development and its flow through EYFS<>YR 6, has been well met by our 2 Curriculum teams, involving all teachers across both sites and providing effective glue to draw teachers of all Year groups and teaching experience together
- Our buildings are not new, but the teaching spaces are good, and we enjoy generous outdoor space
- The Federation is well respected in the community
Our Governing body spends a full day each year in school – for a ‘Governors Day’ – enjoyed by all – where they can see the school in action rather than just a building. We take very seriously our role as ‘critical friend’ and are committed to the wellbeing and professional development of the Headteacher and staff.
Although we have regularly considered joining a Multi Academy Trust (MAT); indeed we have had association with 2 local MATs in recent years, we have enjoyed the autonomy that remaining ‘maintained’ offers us and with strong budgetary control we have felt in the fortunate position that we can choose, for the present, to retain our independence and deliver our best for the children at our schools Across the Federation, our aim and approach is to be collaborative, rather than competitive, with staff, parents & governors all working together to do our best for our pupils – their voice is genuinely heard. We aim for resilient, rounded youngsters.
- In sports – we encourage getting involved and enjoying, not just winning
- In class – ‘do your best’, and support all pupils to develop to their very best
- We recognise the importance of pastoral care, and our staffing reflects this
- We aim to develop the pupils own coping skills and independence ready for the next stage of their journey
Our staff and pupils enjoy welcoming visitors to their classrooms.
