Job overview

The Headteacher of Millbrook Infant School has recently taken on a new executive head position within an academy trust. Whilst very sorry to lose her so soon, the Governors and staff really do wish her well and understand this is an opportunity she could not refuse.

The Governors and staff are now looking forward to welcoming a new Headteacher who can bring their own energy, commitment and vision, to lead the school into whatever the future holds.

These are some of the qualities, skills and attributes we are looking for in a potential candidate;

  • An inspirational leader with a clear vision for the school
  • An outward looking person who values and works with the education community beyond this school, as well as within it
  • A person who responds positively to pressure and thrives on a challenge
  • Someone who can identify and nurture the talent and potential of others
  • The ability to be analytical and insightful in order to develop strategic plans for long term sustainability
  • The ability to demonstrate the drive, experience and creativity to build on our current high standards of teaching, through continuous school improvement

There is no doubt that we can offer you some challenges - here are a couple of them;

  • We are part of one of the largest Infant/Junior school pairings in the local authority, which brings the unique challenges of two separate and distinct schools who need to (and want to) work collaboratively with each other for the benefit of our families and community
  • Navigating the white paper, (and potentially academisation) when the time is right for Millbrook Infant School

We welcome visits to our school to see for yourself some of the positives listed below;

  • Our Ofsted inspection in March 2022 recognised many of the school’s strengths including:

o  “Millbrook is a positive and nurturing school.”

o  “Pupils are welcoming and inclusive”

o  “The curriculum is taught well. Pupils’ recall of previous learning is

impressive.”

o  “Pupils soon begin to read fluently.”

o  “Children enjoy their time in early years.”

o  “The governing body is ambitious for the pupils of the school”

  • The leadership team are hard working and are able to manage change well - the team look forward to working supportively with the new post holder.
  • The staff is a mixture of experienced staff who have been at the school for some time and newer staff who have joined more recently.
  • Pupils are well behaved, enjoy learning and outcomes are consistently above national averages.
  • The school is supported by a dedicated Governing Board and a thriving PTFA as well as many parent and local community volunteers.
  • The school and grounds are well loved and the school has plans to develop the grounds further with the support of funding from the PTFA.

Millbrook Infant School is committed to keeping children safe in education and all candidates will be subject to recruitment, selection and pre-employment vetting including enhanced DBS, references and teacher status checks.

To arrange a visit call the office on 01536 483714 and speak to Karen Cox, our administrator, who will book a convenient time and date. We try to be very flexible with visits and are happy to accommodate these to suit you.

To apply, either go to www.millbrook-inf.northants.sch.uk and download a zip file application pack or download the individual documents below. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 31st January at 5pm and we anticipate that interviews will be held the week beginning 20th February. Applications should be addressed to Mr Dom Peverell, Chair of Governors and the preferred submission method is via email, to dpeverell@millbrook-inf.northants.sch.uk
