Are you an inspirational leader who has high aspirations and is seeking an opportunity to use those qualities to deliver outstanding performance and outcomes?

Great Waldingfield Primary School is a thriving Church of England Primary School situated in the attractive village between the market town of Sudbury, site of Gainsborough’s House, attractive water meadows and a thriving silk industry, and the picturesque historic village of Lavenham. The school has strong links with the local community.

Inspected by Ofsted in April 2022, the school is using the inspection, which gave a strong ‘Good’ grading, as an opportunity to embed even more deeply a culture of continuous improvement. The governors consider that continuing to develop this will be a key objective for the new Headteacher.

We are seeking a Headteacher to provide professional leadership and management of the school. We are looking for someone who will develop, provide and implement the vision and strategic direction for Great Waldingfield CEVC Primary School so that the school and its staff are able to ensure that all pupils receive an outstanding education which raises their ambitions, broadens their horizons and enables them to achieve their full potential in their academic, spiritual and creative lives.

  • has a strong commitment to safeguarding and the promotion of the welfare of children with the ability to engage staff and volunteers to make it happen
  • has experience of work across all primary ages
  • is able to deliver an education which ensures that children thrive, regardless of background or prior attainment
  • has experience of accelerating progress for all children, from those with special educational needs to the most able.

In return, we offer a school:

  • which has an excellent atmosphere, where pupils, staff, parents and visitors are welcomed and feel welcome
  • that is committed to continuous improvement at every level to enable all pupils to raise their ambitions and to find and fulfil their potential
  • that has achieved Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 SATS results well above the county and national averages in July
  • that has a very robust approach to safeguarding which supports and enables pupils’ learning and wellbeing
