Job overview
We are seeking an individual committed to our students, staff, parents and governors who will further inspire a highly motivated school community in ensuring the best possible outcomes and pastoral care for our students.
The successful candidate will need to:
- be a practising Catholic, have a sound knowledge and understanding of the Ursuline ethos and charism.
- have recent senior leadership experience in a secondary school.
- have the vision, drive and energy to successfully lead, motivate and inspire staff, students, governors, parents and the school community to excellence.
- ensure that teaching and learning is at the forefront of continuous strategic school improvement.
- have strong financial acumen.
- have successful experience in developing and implementing policy and practice to ensure excellent standards of learning and behaviour.
- to be innovative with CPD to further improve and sustain high standards.
- have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- have the skills to work collaboratively across schools and different public sectors; and seek to serve both the Catholic and local community, welcoming all those who embrace the school’s values and share its quest for excellence.

Ursuline High School, Wimbledon is an outstanding, voluntary-aided, comprehensive high school for Roman Catholic girls from 11-18 under the Trusteeship of the Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark.
Merton schools are top in England for Progress 8, the Ursuline has been in the top 5% for the past few years and has a tradition of academic excellence, addressing individual needs and service in the spirit of St Angela. Living and Working in Wimbledon
Ursuline High School, Wimbledon is situated in the London Borough of Merton, between Wimbledon and Raynes Park.
The closest main railway stations are Raynes Park, Wimbledon Chase and Wimbledon which are all within a comfortable walking distance. Wimbledon Station is also a terminus for the District Line of the London Underground network. Frequent trains run to Waterloo Station, (journey time 15 minutes). The Tramlink service connects Wimbledon, Merton and Croydon, and there is an extensive bus network.
Merton also has entertainment in abundance. There are also a great deal of outdoor spaces to enjoy in the borough of Merton, such Wimbledon Common, Cannizaro Park, Morden Hall Park, Wimbledon Common and Dean City Farm. Wimbledon has its own theatre and an annual Bookfest.
Shopping facilities range from Centre Court Wimbledon to boutique shops in Wimbledon Village.
There is also ample opportunity for sporting and fitness activities, including a number of gyms including David Lloyd and Virgin Active, Wimbledon Racquets Club as well as Wimbledon Hockey Club, golf clubs and netball clubs to join.
