Job overview

Due to the retirement of our long standing and well respected Headteacher, the Governors of the City of York's largest primary school are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring Headteacher with the enthusiasm and vision to build upon our existing achievements.

We are seeking a Headteacher who:

  • shares our vision for 21st century learning in an innovative open plan setting

  • can build on the successes of a school rated as good by Ofsted (January 2013) in order to lead us as we strive to become an outstanding school
  • has the ambition and drive to deliver sustained improvement while ensuring that our children feel valued as individuals and are each able to reach their full potential
  • is committed to providing our staff with opportunities which allow them to make the best use of our unique learning environment in order to enhance and develop their existing skills and to deliver a first class education to our children

We are proud to offer you:

  • a highly motivated and dedicated team of talented staff who work well together to ensure the best outcomes for all children
  • a state of the art school setting (a new build, opened in 2011) in which the open plan design and impressive range of facilities foster creative approaches to teaching and a high degree of collaboration among staff and pupils
  • enthusiastic children who enjoy learning and take enormous pride in their school
  • a knowledgeable and active Governing Body with a commitment to your continuing professional development
  • a high level of support from parents and the local community

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure & Barring Service.
