Job overview

St Peter’s School, York, is a dynamic, forward-looking HMC independent school for day and boarding pupils based a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre of York.

We are looking for a highly motivated and committed health professional to take the lead role in leading the School’s medical service and ensuring the health and welfare of the school community. The School places a strong emphasis on the quality of its pastoral care and the health services team is an integral part of this.   This is an exciting time to join, with the opening of a new Health and Wellbeing Hub in November. We are seeking a registered health professional with substantial experience in a school, community or GP-based role. The role demands exceptional people skills and a proactive nature.

The Health Services Manager will lead medical provision and take responsibility for all medical matters within the three schools. The postholder will be expected to provide related strategic advice to the Whole School Leadership Team and ensure that all relevant medical policies and procedures are in place and up to date, ensuring compliance across the school.

Ideally candidates will have:

•       Substantial experience as a registered health professional in a school, community or GP-based role (minimum of 3 years post registration experience)

•       Experience of working with children/young people

•       Experience in a management/supervisory role within a similar clinical environment

•       Recognised and current registration as a health professional (e.g. nurse, paramedic, physiotherapist or similar) with unrestricted registration

We offer a competitive salary of c£40,000 p.a. to reflect the important nature of the role and the experience, skills and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Closing date: Monday 30th September 2024 at 10.00am. First interviews are likely to be held shortly after.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service. The post holder will be required to take care to safeguard their own safety and that of others with whom they work and to co-operate with those designated with responsibility for health and safety.
