We are seeking to appoint a confident, caring, and organised Healthcare Assistant to support our Lead Nurse and School Nurse in our busy Health and Wellbeing Centre. This interesting and varied role will be primarily to assess the needs of pupils and staff and administer high quality First Aid. However, the successful candidate will also be required to ensure that pupils with ongoing medical needs are supported at school in line with their Individual Health Care Plans, administer approved medication to students, under the supervision of the Lead Nurse and School Nurse.

The postholder will also be responsible for updating records and providing reports, including those for statutory requirements, managing First Aid equipment and stock, as well as carrying out administrative tasks under the direction of the Lead Nurse. As our first point of contact for First Aid the postholder must possess a calm, confident and warm manner and have excellent communication skills

Although previous experience of working in a school environment and delivering First Aid would be a distinct advantage, full training will be provided during the induction period and the ability to demonstrate a caring manner and willingness to learn is equally as important.

The hours will be 9.30am until 4pm from Monday to Friday and these 30 hours will be worked across 36 weeks a year (term-time only).

The closing date is 8.30am on Monday 7 October 2024 and completed application forms need to be sent to our HR Department via their email address HR@kesbath.com. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 October 2024.

Welcome

King Edward’s School was founded in 1552 and takes great pride in its long history as Bath’s oldest school. KES has held a special place in this wonderful city for well over four and a half centuries and is now firmly established as one of the leading schools in the South West of England.

As the city’s former grammar school, KES has a very healthy tradition of nurturing academic excellence and ambition, reflected these days in the School’s consistently outstanding results. Our pupils are bright, inquisitive, and aspirational, but they also have their feet firmly on the ground and understand that individual excellence shines most brightly in the service of the collective team effort.

“KES remains at the top of the academic pops in Bath and beyond.” The Good Schools Guide 2021

The ethos of the School is one that encourages all pupils to play as hard as they work and to make the most of all the wonderful opportunities here, both in and out of the classroom, that enable them to grow and thrive within a supportive and caring framework. We set the bar high, but we also give our pupils all the tools that they need to reach those ambitious standards. We aim to foster talent in all its forms and to open doors to enquiry and discovery. Independent-mindedness and creative spirit are strong suits, but so too is the sense of community that seeks to respect and value all its members.

“KES turns out young people who are not merely hard-working and well-educated, but compassionate and thoughtful to book.” The Good Schools Guide 2021

As a family of three schools, the Pre-Prep, Junior and Senior sections of King Edward's offer an inspiring and supportive environment for children age 3 to 18. Some join us just for the sixth form, many stay for their entire school career. All pupils are encouraged to be the best they can be and all are nurtured along the pathway to leading happy, fulfilled and successful lives at school and beyond.
